July 2008 Archives
July 31, 2008 Cleveland, Ohio - In an aggressive effort to expand the awareness of our series of original limited edition contemporary art prints we at DOUGLAS Art Prints® are looking to bricks and mortar, art dealers and upscale gift shops and art sales reps. Our dealer program has been revised with a low minimum purchase requirement to start and no additional minimum purchases. Dealers can have prints shipped direct to their customers or even allow their customers to order on line.
"Our prints greatly benefit by people seeing the actual prints," Douglas, the artist and owner of DOUGLAS Art Prints said. "We are going to do everything possible to get them into galleries and shops for that reason."
"Experience tells me that if dealers or galleries display just a few of our prints it leads to sales of others not on display by using our on line catalogs," Douglas continued, "We purposely designed a program for art galleries, dealers or gift shop reps to add our line with a minimal investment and a high profit/ If we can get reps to show galleries and dealers our product success will follow."

July 30, 2008 - Cleveland, Ohio - This new DOUGLAS Art Prints® contemporary art print, the door, is the main entrance door to a beautifully maintained 1930's apartment building that I found while on assignment to shoot some advertising photos of that very building The Edgeley Manor here in Cleveland, Ohio is truly a piece of historic urban
contemporary art.
The front door seemed on it's own as the entrance to the history this building holds. The owners have carefully maintained this piece of history while others right across the street tore down and built high rises. I have 3 prints from this building. I chose the front door as the first. In my favorite stark black and white it just seemed maybe an entrance to a castle or something. Like the entrance to 10,000 tales of lives that have come and gone through it.
This is also the first of my prints shown on our new web site, DOUGLAS Art Prints® on Canvas™. It was a choice of investing the time to change the format on DOUGLAS Art Prints® on Canvas™ to the new style or invest the time adding this new print.
This print, as are all of our prints, is 100% art gallery archival quality. They will not yellow or fade for over 100 years if displayed properly. The prints are all produced at the time of the order and each print is hand signed and numbered by Douglas.
The print shown as it would appear in a 22.5 in. X 16.5 in. frame.

"I made this change because, to be hones, I just don't get too excited about taking pretty pictures intended to hang on a wall. A client sent me to Medina, Ohio which is truly picture perfect. I took some time to get some photos for the photographic prints project. I liked what I shot but I liked them even more in my style of black and white contemporary art," Douglas, said. "I/m not going to offer the photos of my contemporary art prints. I just can't do that. For well over 35 years, as a commercial photographer, I see my photos selling something. The other side of my creative spirit sees things in stark black and white. As image without color and not even much detail. It's real life but somehow without the real. I really like that. It's the opposite of how I make my living."

July. 19, 2008 - Cleveland Ohio - DOUGLAS Photography Inc. is
negotiating a deal with a book publisher to feature Douglas' art
photographs in a book. The book deal served as an inspiration for a
new line of photographic art prints in addition to Douglas' current
line of limited edition modern/contemporary art prints.
"We are excited by this opportunity," Douglas, owner of DOUGLAS Photography, Inc. and DOUGLAS Art Prints® said. "I was excited when the book publisher came to me with the idea and have been talking for several weeks about having photos featured in an up coming book. As a creative alternative I have long offered a line of limited edition art prints on our 2 other web sites. DOUGLAS Art Prints® and DOUGLAS Modern Art Prints™. Because these 2 web sites offered the same prints, one as modern art and the other as contemporary art, this provided another opportunity. I already had a web site that could be converted to a separate new series of photographic art prints."
