"This print captures the 'attitude' of Medina, Ohio the best.  I was there to take some advertising photos and saw this couple sitting on the bench on the town square in the afternoon just enjoying the summer day like they hadn't a care in the world.  That is Medina," Douglas said.  "Professional courtesy required my asking if I could take their photo and I did.  I asked if they would mind if I took a photo of the back of their heads.  Their laughter was the highlight of the trip."

"A near by church is about to be replaced by a commercial building and a parking garage," Douglas continued.  "One has to wonder if Medina's town square will be the same."

News today is that a church located a block away from Medina’s town square is to be developed into a 2 or 3 story office/retail and residential loft style building with a 2 level parking garage.  Will a new modern retail building within walking distance draw more people to the small quaint shops on the square or will it make it harder for these shops to compete? The shops on the square are already being replaced by offices so one must wonder if these offices too will rather be located in the new building that will replace that church just off the square in Medina?

This is another of the new prints I have from my advertising photo assignment in Medina in August.  The quaint nature of Medina and especially their public square is like stepping back in time and almost culture shock for someone who lives in a large city.  It is that rural peacefulness that I hoped to capture in this newest print.  I do know from my visits these quaint shops are fading being replaced by insurance offices and the like.  I fear this print will be a piece of the Medina town square history all too soon.

This is one of several new prints that will come from my recent trip to downtown Medina while on assignment to in fact take some advertising photos for the city of Medina.  Medina is one of those areas that is growing from rural to subdivisions many containing multi million dollar homes but at least so far they have kept the small town quaint peaceful atmosphere.  The big chains are not far away so one can only wonder if downtown Medina can draw enough people for the small shops to survive.

"hacking of nine major retailers and the theft and sale of more than 41 million credit and debit card numbers", the report stated. DOUGLAS Art Prints® wants to again let our customers know this can not happen to them. Staff
"My customers are too important not to do everything possible not to let that happen to them," Douglas, the president of DOUGLAS Art Prints® said.  "I can't help but wonder how many small retailers are hacked but it doesn't make the news. I have invested time and money to make sure that can't happen to my customers."

DOUGLAS Art Prints® never has or stores any customer credit card information on any of their servers.  All of our customer credit card and personal information are entered on Nova Information Systems servers. ]]> Nova Information Systems, now Elavon,  is an international financial institution services company.  Secure servers is their business.  They don;t even allow us, their client, access to our own customers credit card numbers.  Against expert advice that said customers don't like to be transfered for entry of payment information Douglas decided against it.  No secure credit card information shall be entered or processed on our servers is our policy.

The DOUGLAS Art Prints® payment page on the Nova Information Systems server clearly states that you, our customers, are on the Nova secure servers.  Our problem is few know who Nova is and why this is to their benefit.  This story about 9 major retailers servers getting hacked is exactly why it is important.

"I get calls almost weekly from companies that want to save me money on credit card processing," Douglas continued.  "It's true, they probably can.  I might even be losing customers because of the Nova payment system.  There are nine major retailers explaining what happened to 41 million customers   I never want to do that and with Nova I won't have to."

As we mentioned with the earlier print this historic apartment building has been beautifully kept close to the original.

The front door seemed on it's own as the entrance to the history this building holds.  The owners have carefully maintained this piece of history while others right across the street tore down and built high rises.  I have 3 prints from this building.  I chose the front door as the first.  In my favorite stark black and white it just seemed maybe an entrance to a castle or something.  Like the entrance to 10,000 tales of lives that have come and gone through it.

"I made this change because, to be hones, I just don't get too excited about taking pretty pictures intended to hang on a wall.  A client sent me to Medina, Ohio which is truly picture perfect.  I took some time to get some photos for the photographic prints project.  I liked what I shot but I liked them even more in my style of black and white contemporary art," Douglas, said.  "I/m not going to offer the photos of my contemporary art prints.  I just can't do that.  For well over 35 years, as a commercial photographer,  I see my photos selling something.  The other side of my creative spirit sees things in stark black and white.  As image without color and not even much detail.  It's real life but somehow without the real.  I really like that.  It's the opposite of how I make my living."

The DOUGLAS Art Prints® on Canvas site requires a complete change in how the prints are displayed, removing the frames.  The dimensions are slightly different and the prices will increase slightly because of the stretcher framing. Ever so often something, shall we say off the wall, catches my eye.  Somehow the hot dog carts that are on almost every corner in larger cities seemed an interesting subject.  They are everywhere and yet, unless your hungry and short on time, they are almost invisible.  Eating a hot dog that has been sitting in hot water for hours is about as appealing as something just short of road kill but if the planets are in line and it's a hot dog or nothing somehow a glance at the menu cancels the road kill aspect.  Then you discover they are pretty good.  The guy ahead of you might be homeless and pan handled the money and the guy behind you could be worth $millions.  That's the wonder of the hot dog cart.

Are you done? Is that all? Shouldn't you add maybe …? My answers are yes, no and no. There was just something complete in the simplicity of only a wine key with the cork. Maybe it's just me but I save the corks. Some individually remind me of a special evening but in total they represent good many very pleasant times with friends. This cork on the wine key could be from a just opened bottle and the beginning of time with friends. The next day it is a memory of time with friends. No still life, no props, maybe for you as well, just pleasant memories of sharing a bottle of wine with friends.

We instead decided add to the value of our prints and to again make our prints all limited editions with a limit of 300 prints.  Anyone who currently owns one of our prints now owns a limited edition.  Any new prints sold will be numbered consecutively from the last sale but now will be hand numbered as # of 300.
